  • English homework will be paper based and should be completed inside the children's blue homework books.
  • Maths homework will be assigned online at MyMaths.co.uk.

Extra optional homework activities linked to each topic will be posted below.  Children will receive additional Dojo points for each activity they choose to complete. These tasks can be completed inside the blue homework book or photos can be uploaded to Seesaw.

English - Hummingbird.

For English this half term we will be introducing a new text to the class called Hummingbird written by Nicola Davies. While we explore the illustrations and text in the book and the children will work on skills including inference and prediction. We will use this text to support us as we develop our writing skills across a range of genres. The children will work on their skills including punctuation, sentence structure and grammar throughout the half term. They will develop their use of expanded noun phrases, conjunctions and a variety of sentence openers to give more detail in their writing. In guided reading, the children will be exposed to increasingly more challenging texts where they will be applying VIPERS skills to develop their reading ability.

Topic - Light up the world!

Light Up The World is a thematic unit based around the sun and other sources of light, with a science focus. We will look at solar power and how to save electricity, as well as learning about sun safety and the importance of protecting both the skin and eyes. Finally we will learn about how shadows are formed, making our own with different shapes.
